Brows 101

I get asked about brows ALL the time! Whether it’s what products to use, what technique to use or just where to begin. You should all know that my brows took years to get to where they are today & I would like to thank Anastasia Beverly Hills for transforming them into the beauties they are today :)! So let’s go back to the beginning….

The 4 stages of eyebrows

The 4 stages of eyebrows

You’ve just discovered that eyebrows are EVERYTHING & you want to start filling in your brows ASAP! But when you look for eyebrow products there’s so many different ones to choose from – shadows, pencils, gel liners… What will look best?! I'm going to show you what the differences are with eyebrow products. When I first started filling in my eyebrows I started with the most simple; eye shadows. I’ve come to find that unless they are the exact color of your eyebrow hair or a super neutral undertone, they always tend to come out too warm or too boxy.

Here’s what my brows look like shaded in with MAC eye shadow

Not so great right… So I eventually moved onto gel liners. Gel liners can be amazing if used right. Well of course my first couple months I walked around with extra dark black boxed brows – yea that was once me! 705 YouTube videos later & I learned the trick of using a mascara wand to blend in the gel liner – AMAZING! Most eye brow pencils come with a mascara wand already attached which is super convenient!

- When filling in your brows you want to focus on the shape – start by drawing a line directly under the length of your brow.

- Next draw a line starting at the arch down to the tip.

- Take the gel & fill in the rest of the brow using small strokes from your arch down.

- Take the mascara wand & gently flick it up to blend the gel into the front of your brow. Using the mascara wand on the front of your brow keeps it looking the most natural.

1. Line under your brow. 2. Line from arch down. Fill in your shape with soft strokes. 4. Blend in with mascara wand.

Much more natural looking right?! In these pictures I’m using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Medium Brown.

Out of every product I've tried my favorite product is Anastasia Beverly Hills pencils! It gets you the most natural looking brow - not too dark, not too thick, not boxed! When you want to take your brows from beginner to veteran this is how you do it! Using the same technique I demonstrated with the gel liner is the exact way you'll apply the pencil. Always focus the majority of product from the arch of your brow down

Here's the difference between Beginner Brows Vs Veteran Brows - heavy gel liner on the left & pencil on the right.

UGH when I look back on pictures of my beginner brows I cringe - don't let that be you! Brows matter ladies! They define your whole face! Believe me when I tell you having a good set of brows can take 10 years off your face & who wouldn't want that?! Just to prove exactly how brows can change your face heres a side by side of me with & without eyebrows...brace yourselves ....LOL
